Ángeles Torrejón was born in Mexico in 1970. She is a documentary photographer primarily concerned with social causes in Mexico, the human condition, and human rights. She frequently traveled to the state of Chiapas, including before and after the Zapatista Revolution in 1995, to photograph the daily life of the Zapatista National Liberation Army and the Indian sympathizers in the area. She is the former director of Imagenlatina, a news agency that provided photographic images to magazines and newspapers worldwide. Imágenes de la realidad, her first monograph, was published in 2000. Torrejón lives and works in Mexico City with her husband, Marco Antonio Cruz, and their children.
