THE SPIRIT OF PLACE GALA | Celebrating 25 Years
A BENEFIT AT AUSTIN'S FOUR SEASONS
This year marked the 25th anniversary of the Wittliff Collections, and celebrations included the Spirit of Place Gala, a benefit on Sunday, November 13 at the Four Seasons Hotel in Austin. This unique event paid tribute to the artistic legacy unique to Texas, Mexico, and the Southwest, and recognized the role of the Wittliff Collections and founders Bill and Sally Wittliff in preserving and sharing it. Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright and Oscar-nominated actor Sam Shepard was the headliner, with Oscar-nominated William Broyles, Jr. as the Master of Ceremonies, and Texas icon Jerry Jeff Walker providing musical entertainment. Guests enjoyed cocktails, dinner, the star-studded program, and a fine-art silent auction. All proceeds raised by the Spirit of Place Gala will support the Collections’ core activity: the acquisition of major collections of our shared cultural heritage—the books, manuscripts, photographs, screenplays, recordings, and films of our region’s artistic visionaries.
