Shepard's 1979 play Buried Child, winner of the Pulitzer Prize

In 1979, Sam Shepard won the Pulitzer Prize for his play, Buried Child, cementing his legacy as a major American playwright. Yet the ever-restless Shepard refused to let the play lie. Despite the accolades, he substantially rewrote Buried Child for a 1996 revival directed by Gary Sinise.
